NONAGON ASSOCIATION
NONAGON is an artist-run non-profit cultural association that creates audiovisual experiences in boundary-crossing formats and unique environments, beyond traditional venues. We strive to create memorable art and music experiences for both visitors and performers, where the boundaries between art forms are blurred and merged.
On July 26–27, 2024, we hosted the fourth edition of the Nonagon Festival, held at the decommissioned oil cisterns on Svanö in Ådalen. These massive, cylindrical spaces—with an impressive reverberation time of up to 25 seconds—are transformed into a living instrument for musicians and artists.
NONAGON’s goal is to be a driving force for experimental and innovative audiovisual art. We invite musicians, visual artists, sound and performance artists to come together and create in these unique spaces—where art is allowed to take unexpected and boundless forms.
Accessibility
Ramp and open doors are available at all entrances. There is a wheelchair-accessible toilet and designated parking for people with disabilities. Rapid flashing lights and loud sounds may occur during Nonagon events.
About the Location
The Cisterns are located on the island of Svanö, at the mouth of the Ångerman River in the High Coast area. The island once housed both a sawmill and a sulfite pulp factory, and the cisterns are remnants from that industrial period.
On Svanö, visitors can explore scenic viewpoints, swimming spots, and a sauna. The nearest grocery store is 6 km away, in Kramfors.
Rules and General Guidelines
Children are welcome when accompanied by a guardian. In the NONA cistern, the minimum age is 7 years. Smoking and bringing your own alcohol are not permitted inside the cisterns or on the premises. Open fires are not allowed anywhere on the grounds or at the campsites. In public areas, please follow the recommended fire safety regulations.
Nonagon has a zero-tolerance policy against discrimination, violence, bullying, sexual harassment, drugs, and any other illegal actions. Sharp objects, drugs, alcohol, and flammable materials are not allowed on the festival grounds.
